Who are you, what do you do, and why should we care?

My given name is Michael, and I am a Hamilton based (NZ) computer geek. I'll be 28 as of june 2003. Sci-fi, news & technical documents are my preferred reading materials but almost anything will suffice. I have but a single pet, a ginger tom whose sloth is superceded only by his gluttony and affection. Black is not my natural hair colour. I reflect too oft where action may be a more prudent option.
I spend too much time staring at this screen or failing that, thinking about the screen.

Musically I enjoy many things, but primarily include cocteau twins, the cure, theo ray, sisters of mercy, mercy cage/melody fallen, split enz, dr kevorkian & the suicide machine, bocctahne, dim, ... Non-musically I enjoy fog, chocolate, tempests, candles, chess, chocolate, chartreuse, silver, coffee, cats, coding, and especially chocolate.

I hate spiders, slapstick comedy, dramatics, & vague self descriptions.

As to what I do ? You should probably refer to the precis for a more fuller description, but the short of it is I am an independant IT contractor - with the focus being on web design and programming. As to what I do in my spare time ? More of the same I guess, but in a self gratification tone — unfortunate I know, but I find beauty in well crafted sites or code. As to why should we care ? Well, this site is more of that 'self-gratification' thing, so the answer is of no matter.
